The City of Saint-Hyacinthe, home to 57,239 residents and covering an area of 188.6 kmยฒ, is a major economic and agricultural hub in Quรฉbec. Committed to optimizing infrastructure management and modernizing urban analysis tools, the city has entered a five-year partnership (renewable for another five years) with Jakarto to create a digital twin and conduct municipal asset inventories.
This initiative is revolutionizing urban infrastructure management by providing immersive visualization and actionable 3D data.
Using its mobile mapping units equipped with LiDAR and 360ยฐ imaging, Jakarto will digitize the entire 425 km municipal road network of Saint-Hyacinthe. This survey will generate a highly accurate 3D model, enabling municipal services to:
โ
Visualize and analyze infrastructure changes over time
โ
Optimize urban planning and maintenance interventions
โ
Enhance municipal asset management
โ
Conduct detailed inventories of traffic signs, road markings, and traffic lights
A new data capture will be performed annually for five years, ensuring a dynamic and evolving view of the city. This approach allows the city to detect changes over time, identify infrastructure deterioration, additions, or modifications, and make strategic decisions based on observed trends.
These annual updates will be integrated into the Jakarto platform, ensuring continuous access to the latest data and facilitating proactive urban management.
In addition to the digital twin, Jakarto will conduct detailed inventories of urban infrastructure, including:
๐ฆ Traffic lights and intersection elements
๐ Road signs
๐ฃ Road markings
These inventories will be delivered in ESRI File Geodatabase (.gdb) format and seamlessly integrated into the city's Geographic Information System (GIS).
At the core of this project, the Jakarto platform enables Saint-Hyacintheโs teams to:
๐ Explore the city in 3D through an intuitive interface
๐ Perform advanced spatial analyses (distance, area, and volume measurements)
๐ Download and integrate data into their GIS tools
๐
Compare historical data to track infrastructure evolution
Thanks to this cloud-based solution, Saint-Hyacinthe gains instant access to accurate, regularly updated data, ensuring more efficient decision-making and improved urban planning.
With this five-year contract, renewable for another five years, Jakarto is supporting Saint-Hyacintheโs digital transformation. By investing in cutting-edge technology and powerful tools, the city is modernizing its management and optimizing its infrastructure for the decades ahead.
