What’s New in the Jakarto Platform: More Clarity, More Context

At Jakarto, our platform is continuously evolving to provide an ever more detailed understanding of the territory and the assets it contains.

Over the past few months, several major improvements have been rolled out—across the Asset Viewer, LiDAR visualization, and the integration of new data sources.

Here’s an overview of the latest updates.

1️⃣ Asset Viewer: A More Refined View of the Territory

🔎 Improved asset identification in Jakartowns

For point-based assets with known elevation (e.g. manholes, catch basins, water valves, fire hydrants), selecting an asset now automatically displays a visual marker in the Jakartowns window.

👉 The result:

  • More intuitive localization
  • Immediate identification of the asset within its real-world environment
  • A better understanding of its 3D position, especially in dense urban contexts

🚦 A redesigned signage analysis tool

Signage inventory analysis has been simplified and enhanced:

  • Fewer sub-sections for smoother navigation
  • More granular filtering by sign code (MTQ)
  • Filtering by year of installation
  • Direct access to the number of signs per code across the territory

These improvements support regulatory analysis, replacement planning, and large-scale asset management.

🏠 Civic address display

To improve street-level context and make it easier to locate specific road segments, civic address numbers are now displayed by default in Jakartowns.

A valuable time-saver for:

  • Field teams
  • Analysts
  • Municipal staff working at the street or segment level

2️⃣ LiDAR visualization: fully colorized data

Thanks to our new generation of mobile mapping units, the visual quality of LiDAR data reaches a new level:

  • LiDAR point clouds are now systematically colorized
  • New colorized LiDAR tiles are available directly in the platform

This colorization significantly improves:

  • Scene readability
  • Interpretation of objects and materials
  • User experience, both for analysis and communication

It also enables a smoother transition between 360° imagery and LiDAR, reinforcing the visual consistency of the digital twin.

3️⃣ Integration of aerial LiDAR with mobile mapping data

Another recent advancement is the integration of aerial LiDAR with mobile mapping data directly within the Jakarto platform.

This approach unifies perspectives—from ground level to the canopy—providing a more comprehensive understanding of the territory.

In practice, this means:

  • Combined analysis of infrastructure, vegetation, and the built environment
  • Better coverage of areas that are difficult to capture from the street (backyards, private properties, large complexes)
  • Seamless, unrestricted free navigation, allowing users to move naturally from one area to another and explore the territory at multiple scales

By bringing these data sources together in a single environment, Jakarto delivers a richer, more coherent, and more actionable multi-scale view of the territory.
